Music Night Will Help Tackle Blood Cancers

LIBRA

A charity campaigner from Kent is encouraging you to attend an evening of music and laughter to help raise vital funds for the Lions International Blood Research Appeal (LIBRA) and Anthony Nolan. Robin Fuller, whose wife Lynda underwent a lifesaving bone marrow transplant, is organising the exciting event which will take place on Saturday 6th April 2019 at the Boughton Monchelsea Village Hall, Maidstone, from 7pm.

Performers from local folk clubs and choirs will provide a range of musical entertainment. Some of Robin’s family will also take to the stage as they are talented musicians and singers. Robin will contribute by performing “Who Mowed the Lawns of Eden?” and “Cosmo, The Fairly Accurate Knife Thrower”.

Robin is keen to raise as much as possible on the night and commented: “Our music night is always great fun and we like to support worthy causes. The first event was in aid of Cumbrian Farmers after their flooding disaster. The last two events raised funds for restoration works in the parish church. This will be our fourth music night and we hope many people from across Kent will join us.

“My wife, Lynda, had a bone marrow transplant at King’s College Hospital in 2014. Over the last five years we have spent a great deal of time in the haematology department at King’s and that is why we have chosen to provide its supporting charity LIBRA with 50% of the funds raised. The remainder will go to Anthony Nolan as the charity helped to find Lynda a donor which saved her life.”

LIBRA is the official haematology charity for King’s College Hospital in London. Successful blood cancer treatments, created with the support of LIBRA funding, will go on to benefit patients in the UK and overseas. Funds also cover the cost of vital ward equipment, diagnostic tools and research equipment.

Andrew Lodge, LIBRA Chairman added: “Trustees and I are so grateful to Robin and his wife for organising a music night in aid of the charity. We are currently raising funds to cover the cost of specialist equipment that will be used to help create new lifesaving treatments for patients with a range of blood cancers. Thanks to people like Robin and Lynda, more lives will be saved.”

Tickets for the event cost just £7.50 (£5 for aged 14 and under). Please contact Robin on 01622 609975 or email rafuller@blueyonder.co.uk to secure your places today.
