The Lions International Blood Research Appeal - LIBRA - raises funds for the Haematology Department at King’s College Hospital in London.  We are currently calling for support as we need to cover the cost of new diagnostic equipment for the blood research team.  It will be used to help diagnose and treat patients with blood cancers such as lymphoma and leukaemia.

We will also help to equip a Clinical Research Facility which is being developed at King’s and it will house a state-of-the-art cell therapy unit for the Haematology Department.  The facility is set to open in 2013 with the support of some high profile personalities.

Professor Ghulam Mufti, Head of the Haematology Department, commented: “LIBRA Trustees and supporters have dedicated a great deal of time to this appeal and we are most grateful.  The equipment will greatly benefit our research teams and ensure that we are able to diagnose serious conditions swiftly.  In turn, this will enable us to establish how best to treat patients with serious conditions.”

With your help experts at King’s can continue to develop new treatments and also provide first class patient care.
