With the help of LIBRA King’s launched the ‘Acorns to Oaks Project’ to raise awareness about the need for funding to cover the costs of specialist equipment. Trustees have agreed to support this project and raise £249,000. Through hard work and great determination, they are already more than half way to hitting this target. Trustees work closely with Professor Ghulam Mufti, the Head of the Haematology Unit, ensuring that needs for specialist diagnostic equipment are met.
The existing haematology department at King’s is a major global centre for bone marrow transplantation, diabetes therapy and liver disease. It has the highest liver transplantation programme in Europe and serves those at high risk of haematological diseases, diabetes, cardiovascular and neurological mortality.
